Tree of Hope
Updated: Jun 30
While in Kacanik, our team of Ten2 participants partnered with an organization that has a vision to bring hope to the community of Kacanik through various educational courses and opportunities that will lead to a better future and hopefully, a life with Christ.
Kacanik currently does not have a traditional church with four walls and a roof, but they have a small church amongst the people. Those people have a dream to build a church in Kacanik to bring the truth of Christ beginning with His hope.
As part of our mission in Kacanik, we helped promote the organization through different activities, including children's activities; a questionnaire wall that asked provoking questions to the people of Kacanik; a place called the American Corner, where we sat and talked to locals about America and the English classes the organization offers; and a painting wall where Ten2 participants designed and painted a mural.
Lydia, a Ten2 participant, used her creativity to help paint the mural.
“While we painted the wall, many people came by watching, staying for a while then leaving. There was this man that stayed a bit longer than the rest and while I took some time away from the wall, I asked him to sketch what hope means to him. He sketched out a tree with branches. On the branches were things that brought him hope: love, family, friends, and time. But there was one branch that was empty, and I asked what went there and he said he did not know. I told him what went there for me, and that it was Jesus.” Lydia recalled.
You can attempt to find hope in anything but not everything can give you hope. We know the only thing that brings sustaining hope is through Jesus Christ.
Pray for Kacanik as they seek out hope that only can be found in Jesus Christ.
“He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither. In all He does, He prospers.”
